The Lync Director Part I

in older versions of OCS the dircetor was installed like a Front End Server, but do not homed users and you need a dedicated SQL Server for the backend database. The Steps to make the Server to a Director are documentated on TechNet http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd425352(office.13).aspx looks like a litle bit tricky.. .:-)

Now in the Lync Server 2010 the Director is a dedicated role that you can deploy more easily.

Why to use a Director in your deployment?
Features:
    • Authentication moves from the Front-End to the Director, more security for remote user
    • Authentication view for external
    • Can home the Webservices for device update services and the client version filter thats checks the version of the users client and handle the sign-in web tickets
    • recieves the home front-end pool to the client in multi pool deployments
Internal Sign-In for User homed on Pool 1

Amazing Client Xync™ for Mobile Client Video and Audio

Today a new amazing Client for your mobile devices has been released!

I download and test it with my iphone and my lync lab environment and works still fine!

You can find Xync™ as an example in the Apple App Store for 15,99€, but I think its worth every cent!

http://www.damaka.com/

Update:

After configuring the client with OCSR2 or Lync Server without Autodiscover it always crashs when starting the app. Reinstalling the app and configure again with the lync Account and every think works fine again.

Update2:

It seems like the problems persist only if I don´t use autodiscover for the configuaration
Another Point is, when I using the 3G Network for the connection Audio and Video doesn´t work :-/
